Club/Squad Training

Training sessions are offered Monday-Saturdays on a 12-month period.  Detail of the training sessions a per the attached Letter of Introduction. We teach from Grade 1 to Grade 12 pupils. All swimmers must attend an assessment to determine squad placement and in young swimmers (7,8,9 years) whether they are ready to commence training in a 25m pool.

The training will take place at the Curro Aurora Sundowner, 25m Indoor Facility. The programme enrolment is open to all interested primary & high school swimmers & Club Swimmers Our Squad Programme will focus on stroke technique, skill acquisition and swimming proficiency; improved fitness and race strategy and sprint focus. Scholars are encouraged in a positive and structured environment and handled correctly. Effective coaching will stimulate a passion and interest in swimming and the sport which will stay with them throughout their lives.

Aquarius Aquatics Swimming has an established squad system whereby swimmers graduate from one squad to another, depending on accurate grading ability. At each level, the coach employs different skills in order to ensure the timeous development of the athlete’s potential. After attending an assessment and reaching the required standard, swimmers can join the club and train within a squad system

Training is offered through out the year.

The mission of the Squad programme is to foster swimming as a fun, lifelong activity in a structured environment. Our goal is to build outstanding, well-rounded athletes through a team activity promoting personal achievement, self-discipline, goal setting, time management and team spirit. To enhance the standard of swimming in the country and focus our attention to providing more pathways for more athletes to acquire experiences that will lead them to sustain higher levels of competitive swimming and performance success in the future.

Amy Ackerman heads up the training sessions for the Squads. Amy has been coaching for Many years. She is a registered squad coach with Swimming South Africa and is passionate and results driven. As a top Swimmer Her Self, Amy is keen to share her knowledge with our squad members.

Amy has the unique skills, experience, and judgment to coach swimmers of all ages and has a sound understanding of teaching stroke technique, training cycles and the qualities it takes to be a successful swimmer. Amy is a team player and believes in the team process and programme content of the Squad Programme. She has both team and individual performance goals and knows what is expected.

The goal of great coaching is to guide, inspire and empower an athlete or team to achieve their full potential. Amy also has an in-depth knowledge of the sport of swimming.
